As requested by the Post Production, non linear editing fraternity Bryant Unlimited have launched "back to back" connectors and patch panels for both USB (A to B), and FireWire/IEEE1394a protocols. Either model is currently available individually for custom panel mounting or as a 16 port, 19 inch 1U patch panel.
Plug and Play USB devices can transfer data at up to 12 megabits/second, almost 50 times faster than serial connections and are increasingly used in the Broadcast sector in audio and even digital speakers and microphones. The very 'hot plugging' nature of USB and it's ability to support up to 127 simultaneously connected devices lends itself to the rack mount patch panel ~ so here it is!
However, within the digital audio/video domain FireWire is the interface of choice for interconnects of up to 4.5 metres. FireWire is a high-speed serial input/output technology for connecting digital devices such as camcorders and cameras to desktop and portable computers and has been widely adopted by Sony, JVC, and Canon amongst others. The six-pin receptacles on both front and rear of our FireWire panel enable patching of digital editing kit, cameras, servers, etc. at 400 Mbps bandwidth ~ more than 30 times faster even than USB!
Each patch panel comes complete with a designation strip and tie bar to the rear and is available in Black or Dawn Mist finish.
